Executive Summary

Realizing the effect of COVID-19 on the country’s economy and the hardship faced by business owners especially women, Ilizwi-Initiative in partnership with New Faces New Voices Nigeria sponsored an advocacy to reach out to the vulnerable women in marginalized communities were 17 women entrepreneurs selected at random from Katsina, Kaduna and Kano were interviewed on the 5th day of August 2020.

NFNV Nigeria calls for sustainable economic plans against COVID-19 in Africa

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Nigeria chapter of New Faces New Voices (NFNV)— a Pan-African advocacy group focused on expanding the role and influence of African women in the financial sector — has called on African leaders to develop and implement sustainable economic strategies towards mitigating the negative impacts of the pandemic  on businesses in Africa including women cross-border traders.
